INFORMATION ON THE NEW MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS
According to the Law 4276/2014 (Government Gazette Ply No. A 155), the Hellenic Chamber of Hotels (HCH) is the competent body for issuing classification certificates into the “Stars” category system for Hotels, as envisaged by the provisions of No. 216/2015 Ministerial Decision of the Minister of Tourism.
Respectively, the HCH is the competent body, in accordance with the aforementioned law, for issuing classification certificates into the “Keys” category system for Furnished Rooms / Apartments and Bungalows, as envisaged by the provisions of Nos. 21185/2014 and 91/2015 Ministerial Decisions of the Minister of Tourism.
The HCH, according to the provisions No. 219/2015 Ministerial Decision, is issuing the “Stars” or “Keys” classification certificate based on: (a) a "Technical Report" and (b) a "Classification Requirements Compliance Certificate" submitted to the Chamber electronically by accredited by “The Hellenic Accreditation System”, (E.SY.D.), bodies for Audits and Inspections in accordance to ISO 17065.
The aforementioned Technical Reports are prepared by qualified and trained for this purpose inspectors employed by the above accredited bodies.
SGS and CertHotel have entered into an exclusive collaboration agreement for the provision of tourist accommodation inspection services for their classification in “Star & Keys”.
The inspection of every tourist accommodation facility is carried out with the physical presence of an inspector or team of inspectors employed by the accredited body for audits and inspections chosen by the administration of the facility to conduct the inspection into the appropriate “Stars or Keys” classification.
